Facebook has been one of the most effective platforms for marketers trying to grow both their brand awareness and customer base since its inception in 2003. Setting goals for 2021 is a natural part of seeking to expand  your business and reach more potential customers. Even though nearly every online business has a Facebook page, very few actually utilize the platform to its fullest to get the most out of the 2.6 billion active users every month.

Top Facebook Trends For 2021

Facebook Live

Although Facebook Live has been around for a few years, the option has exploded in just the last year. Whether due to the ongoing pandemic or not, Facebook Live usage increased 26.7% in 2020. Connecting effectively with people through a digital or image medium has become vital for online businesses.

Video content that is expertly produced and edited can draw a large crowd especially if the content is trendy, helpful, and long lasting. The proper marketing video should speak directly to potential customers and provide a call to action. Instructional videos also show your customer base that your brand is helpful and truly cares about making a difference.

Facebook Shops

Online shopping has predictably grown every year since the advent of the internet in 1996, but 2020 saw an increase in online shopping never seen before. According to research, the rate of online shopping grew 44% in the last year. Of course, the pandemic has meant millions of Americans have been barred from shopping physically, but many now prefer the ease and simplicity of shopping online.

Facebook announced its new platform Facebook Shops in May, 2020 as a way to help out small businesses. Small business owners can create their own shop on Facebook to promote and sell their products. Business owners will need to take full advantage of Facebook Shops as more customers move away from physical shopping.

Facebook News Feed

While Facebook has launched several new platforms over the last few years, its main attraction is still the newsfeed. Billions of users still look to Facebook as a way to read up on current events, check in on friends, and update their own feed. The News Feed is also the main and best way for small businesses to advertise to their customer base.

According to research conducted on Q3 2020, Facebook’s news feed received 58.2% of all ad spend on the platform. Clearly, business owners believe the news feed is Facebook’s most effective advertising platform. Research also shows that the news feed has the highest click-through-rate of all Facebook platforms at 1.82%.

Don’t Get Left Behind When It Comes To Facebook

Although some may consider Facebook a relic of the last decade and a social media platform that now skews towards older generations, it still an effective way to boost brand awareness. Platforms like Facebook Live and Facebook Shops are an excellent way to reach out to customers while Facebook News Feed is still an effective way to advertise. Although the new year is well under way, it’s not too late to begin optimizing your own Facebook page.
